Abstract about the talk:
Elite sport, especially individual sports, is unforgiving. Ones performances, often separated by a hundredth of a second, are laid bare instantly for all to see and critique, and it gets further exaggerated the higher one climbs and the more visible one gets. The relentless pursuit towards improving ones performances is constantly accompanied by failure and obstacles. Hakim, who despite the odds was part of the Indian senior swimming team for 8 years, shared key lessons learned on the course of his pursuit, filled with trials and tribulations, of realizing his dream of becoming an Olympian.

The first edition of the research study - Sports Performance Assessment of Indian States - 2011 - conducted by Winning Matters Consulting Private Limited (Winning Matters) in association with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) to comprehensively analyze and rank the Indian States based on their medal winning performances was released at the inaugural session of FICCI's Global Sports Summit "TURF 2011" by H.E.
